Body recovered from Connecticut River identified as Gill man

GREENFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Authorities have released the name of a man pulled from the Connecticut River Wednesday afternoon in Greenfield.
Seventy-four year old Lawrence Poirier of Gill has been identified as the man who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, first responders were called to the area of Montague City Road after reports of someone floating in the water.
As of Friday morning, investigators noted that no foul play is suspected. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death.
