HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) -- Police bodycam footage has been released of Holyoke City Councilor Israel Rivera, after his arrest for an OUI back in December.

Around midnight on Sunday, December 21st, State Police pulled Rivera over who was driving 40 miles per hour in a 25 mile-per-hour speed limit zone.

According to court paperwork, Rivera ran a red light on Appleton Street in Holyoke and failed several sobriety tests.

The bodycam footage released shows Rivera swearing at the cops, calling them derogatory names and saying that he shouldn’t have funded their budget for the year.

In a Facebook post speaking about his actions, Rivera says, “I understand the seriousness of this matter and the concern it may cause. I respect the legal process and am committed to addressing this situation responsibly and rebuilding trust through my actions moving forward.”
