Charges dropped against man accused of slashing Springfield mayor’s tires

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - A man accused of slashing Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno’s tires in 2024 has had all his charges dropped.
Steven Kostorizos, 55, faced three charges for the incident. They were dropped during a pretrial hearing Tuesday after he was deemed incompetent to stand trial.
In January 2024, Western Mass News obtained video of the suspect allegedly slashing each tire in the back parking lot of Springfield City Hall.
After his initial arraignment in 2024, Kostorizos was sent to Bridgewater State Hospital for further evaluation. He had previously been arrested for separate incidents, including throwing a rock through a window at city hall.
