Chicopee man convicted of killing wife in Connecticut

EAST HARTFORD, CT. (WFSB) - A jury convicted a 60-year-old Chicopee man of murder in the 2023 stabbing death of his wife in East Hartford.

Wilkid Valcinord was found guilty of one count of murder.

According to evidence presented at trial, he traveled from his home in Chicopee, Massachusetts to East Hartford at around 9:30 p.m. on June 17th, 2023, with the intent to murder his wife, Andra Brown.

East Hartford police were dispatched to Martin Circle at around 7:00 a.m. on June 18th after receiving a 911 call from a woman. Officers were met by the victim’s daughter-in-law, who had discovered Brown dead on the floor behind a door, lying in a pool of blood.

Autopsy records and testimony showed Brown had been stabbed 28 times.

Police identified Valcinord as a suspect through their investigation. Cell phone data and surveillance footage showed his work van and phone traveling from his home in Chicopee to the scene during the time of the incident. Investigators also recovered forensic evidence from inside his vehicle.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 29th in Hartford Superior Court.
