Chicopee traffic stop leads to gun, drug charges for two Springfield residents

CHICOPEE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- Two people are facing charges after a traffic stop in Chicopee.

Last Thursday, around 2:30 a.m. on Springfield Street, officers stopped a vehicle due to a canceled registration. Police said the driver, 45-year-old Alexander Maldonado of Springfield, was allegedly unlicensed and was then arrested.

The passenger, 36-year-old Jazmine Lopez of Springfield, was also arrested due to previous warrants.

Investigators reportedly found a glass pipe in the vehicle, along with brass knuckles and a loaded handgun.

Maldonado has been charged with vehicle, gun, and drug-related offenses, while Lopez was charged with drug possession and charges related to the warrants.
