Comedian Brad Williams bringing Tall Tales Tour to Springfield’s Symphony Hall

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- Comedian Brad Williams will bring his Tall Tales Tour to Springfield’s Symphony Hall on Saturday, May 30, at 7 p.m.
Williams has been performing comedy for over two decades, entertaining audiences around the world. His career began unexpectedly when he was heckled at a comedy show as a teenager. “The comedian on-stage making midget jokes and half the audience laughing and the audience around me, like pointing,” he said. “And the comedian stopped and said, ‘What, is one of them here?’ and I raised my creepy little hand in the air and said, ‘Yeah.’”
Williams was called up to the stage during that show. He told the audience he worked at Disneyland, growing up in Orange County. “I got the audience to laugh and I turned to them. I said, ‘Shut up. I’m not one of the seven’ and I got them to laugh too, so I thought, ‘All right, this is great,’” he added.
Since that show, Williams has performed in all 50 states and reached audiences as far as Australia. He has also had sketches on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” “I take my job really seriously. I do not take any nights off, so it’s never going through the motions. If someone’s going to spend their hard-earned money to see me, they’re going to get the damnedest show that I can provide for them,” he explained.
Williams said he wants audiences to leave the venue with a sense of unity. “No one’s going to care who they voted for. No one’s going to care what race they are, who they pray to, or who they lay down with. Everyone’s going to be laughing together and that’s going to be the most important thing. That’s what I want people to leave with, is that we’re more alike than we are different,” he noted.
Tickets are still available for the May 30 show on MGM Springfield’s website.
