WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WFSB) - The Connecticut Airport Authority has advice for people traveling during spring break season at Bradley International Airport.

Between April 8 and 19, more than 139,000 passengers are expected to travel through BDL, according to the CAA. Workers at BDL are preparing for the extra traffic.

Officials advised travelers to arrive early, know where to park, pack appropriately, and use airport amenities during this busy travel season.

“We look forward to welcoming thousands of passengers at Bradley International Airport over the next few weeks,” said Michael W. Shea, Executive Director & CEO of the CAA.

The CAA provided the following tips:

Arrive Early

“It is recommended that passengers be in the terminal at least 90 minutes prior to their flight to allow time for check-in and getting through the TSA security checkpoint. The busiest times at BDL are often between 4-7 a.m. due to the number of flights departing in the span of a few hours, and then again in the mid to late afternoon.”

Know Where to Park

“Passengers can check parking availability before arriving at the airport by visiting the airport’s website. Due to an increase in passenger volume, parking availability may be at or near capacity at certain times throughout the day. Follow directional signage and allow extra time to park or seek alternative parking options on Schoephoester Road or Route 20 & 75 if necessary."

Pack Appropriately

“Passengers are reminded to organize their carry-on bags and checked baggage to ensure they comply with all Transportation Security Administration (TSA) guidelines. Visit the TSA website for additional details and to learn which items are allowed and which ones are prohibited."

Take Advantage of Family Friendly Amenities

“For families traveling with children, there are now two nursing rooms for mothers. One is located near CT River Landing and the other in the new gates 18-20 concourse. There are also family restrooms located throughout the terminal for added convenience, in addition to water bottle refill stations.

BDL now offers nonstop flights to more than 40 destinations on 9 different passenger airlines. The airport has also unveiled several expansion and enhancement projects that now offer passengers easier check-in at the airline ticket counters, additional queuing space at the main security checkpoint, faster access to baggage claim, rental cars and ground transportation, smoother navigation inside the parking garage, and a better lounge experience."
