ENFIELD, Conn. (WFSB) - Police discovered what appeared to be a World War II-era mortar round inside a home on Lake Drive in Enfield on Monday.

Donald Baltronis was arrested for second-degree breach of peace, police confirmed on Tuesday morning.

Eight firearms were seized, along with knives and ammunition, from the home under a search warrant, according to Enfield Police Chief Alaric J. Fox.

The mortar round was determined to be inactive and posed no danger.

The incident began when Baltronis threatened workers at a nearby Amazon construction site.

Officers said they went to his home on Lake Drive to speak with him.

They said Baltronis was uncooperative at first but eventually let officers inside to collect several guns.

Officers then spotted what appeared to be a WWII-era mortar round.

Johann Broks has friends who live in the area.

“It can be kind of scary because I could be living next to the person and if something goes off, I don’t know what will happen honestly,” Broks said. “I am nearby and I have friends around here and something could happen to them. I’m down the road and there’s colleges right there.”

The Connecticut State Police bomb squad was called in to take a look.

Officers evacuated the home and neighbors were told to shelter in place.

The shelter-in-place order was for anyone within 500 feet of the home.

The order has since been lifted.
