Food drives to be held to benefit Amherst Survival Center

AMHERST, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - You will soon have a chance to help feed local families in need this Martin Luther King Jr. Day as the Light and Love Amherst Community Food Drive returns for a second year.
The drive, organized by State Representative Mindy Domb, will benefit the Amherst Survival Center on Sunderland Road and will be held Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
If you can’t make it to Amherst then, you have another chance when State Representative Aaron Saunders and State Senator Jake Oliviera co-host a donation site in Belchertown on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Belchertown town hall parking lot.
At this time, the survival center said it mostly needs peanut butter, pasta and pasta sauce, cereal, canned soup, and oatmeal. They’ll also accept any personal care items like diapers and menstrual products.
