ORANGE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) -- What would you trade to kickstart a lifelong dream? For Franklin County racecar driver Cole Littlewood, the answer was ‘four pigs’. Western Mass News has more on how he went from tractors to racetracks, and what comes next for Littlewood.

At just 25-years-old, Cole Littlewood’s professional racing career is just beginning, but he’s already had a lifetime of experience, “I grew up on a farm. We milked cows, took care of pigs, and we ended up trading four pigs for my first racecar... The first time I was out there, I mean, obviously, I was 12 years old, so I didn’t even have my driver’s license yet.”

Up a hill in the middle of Orange, is a mountain, and a barn, that now serves as a workshop. Cole showed us around, explaining, “Right now we’re standing in the old barn. We used to milk cows here twice a day. Every day during the week. We turned...my dad helped us turn it into a race shop...A lot of the work I do on the car is by myself.” The foundation of a career that’s already led to a wall of trophies, and even a ring.

We also got the opportunity to hear from Cole’s fiancé Mikayla, who has been a part of the crew since they first met as opponents on the speedway.

“He pulled up in his trailer and me and all my friends were like, we’ve never seen that car before, and then he got out of the car and I went over and introduced myself...You know, it all just came together when we were 15... I just thought it was the cutest thing ever,” she tells us. Cole continued to say, “She’s been with me ever since. Going to every racetrack.”

Their next goal: funding and tackling the upcoming racing season, starting in just a couple of weeks. As Cole explains, “American Canadian Tour is probably the most competitive late-model series in the country. So, my goal is top 10...We’re just going to go every week, learn the most we can, and just be consistent with it.”

He also has dreams of NASCAR raceways on the horizon, “Just got to put in that hard work, you know, put yourself out there, meet the right people, and just keep putting in that effort. That’s going to get you where you want to go.”

Your next chance to catch Cole Littlewood on the track will be April 19th at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
