Gary Rome Hyundai donates $50,000 to blood cancer campaign led by local mother

HOLYOKE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- Gary Rome Hyundai partnered with Hyundai Hope on Wheels to donate $50,000 to Blood Cancer United’s Visionaries of the Year campaign.
Crystal Conroy was named the 2026 Visionary of the Year. Conroy lost her son to an aggressive pediatric leukemia six weeks before his second birthday in 2025.
Her campaign raised nearly $150,000 for Blood Cancer United, making her one of the organization’s top fundraisers nationwide.
Rome explained a child is diagnosed with cancer every 36 minutes. “Although we’ve made inroads and it’s not an 80 percent survival rate, it’s more of a 90 percent survival rate,” he said. “As a Hyundai dealer, we’re not going to rest until pediatric cancer is eradicated, so we’re putting pediatric cancer on notice and letting them know we’re going to do everything we can.
