Greenfield Police search for armed assault suspect

GREENFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – Authorities are looking for your help in locating a suspect wanted in connection with an assault in Greenfield.
Melissa Sippel, spokesperson for the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, said that Greenfield Police were called to a reported armed assault at Roberto’s Pizzeria on Federal Street around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.
When officers arrived, they found a victim, who was first taken by ambulance and then flown by medical helicopter to a hospital due to the severity of their injuries. As of Wednesday night, the victim’s condition was not immediately known.
Sippel said that the suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Carlos Naranjo of Greenfield. “His whereabouts are currently unknown and he may be armed and dangerous,” she explained, adding that members of the public should not approach him.
Investigators believe that Naranjo and the victim were known to each other and the attack does not appear to be random.
Anyone with information on Naranjo’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 or Greenfield Police at (413) 773-5411.
The case remain under investigation by State Police detectives assigned to the D.A.’s office, in conjunction with Greenfield Police.
