Holyoke man arrested after shots fired on East Columbus Avenue in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – A Holyoke man is facing several charges after allegedly firing a gun several times in Springfield.
Police responded to East Columbus Avenue around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday for a report of shots fired, according to Springfield Police spokesperson. The department’s Real-Time Analysis Center was able to provide officers with a picture of a suspect, who allegedly fired a gun several times into the area.
Around 1 a.m. Thursday, Springfield police officers assigned to the Gaming Enforcement Unit found the suspect, 18-year-old Xavier Pagan of Holyoke, near the MGM Springfield parking garage and placed him under arrest. Investigators found a gun capable of holding 18 rounds of ammunition near the intersection of State Street and East Columbus Avenue.
Pagan is facing several charges including carrying a firearm without a license, improper storage of a high-capacity firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, discharging a firearm near a highway, possession of ammunition without an FID card, carrying a firearm on a public way, breach of peace while armed, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and resisting arrest.
