Holyoke man faces drug charges after fleeing officers during property check

HOLYOKE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – A Holyoke man is facing charges after a check of a property led to a drug arrest.
Holyoke Police said they were conducting a property check around 12:45 a.m. Thursday on South Bridge Street when they saw several people, who were around a vehicle, begin to scatter. One of those people dropped an item and began to run.
Police gave chase, during which the suspect, 20-year-old George Bula of Holyoke, continued to allegedly toss several items – later discovered to be narcotics – on the ground. He was taken into custody as he tried to jump a fence on Cabot Street.
Investigators recovered the drugs that were tossed, as well as more narcotics that were on Bula. In total, 169 baggies of suspected heroin, 102 vials of cocaine, and $538 were seized.
Bula was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to distribute a Class A drug, possession with the intent to distribute a Class B drug, possession of a Class A drug, possession of a Class B drug, disorderly conduct, and trespassing.
