Holyoke Police hold ceremony to remember those killed in the line-of-duty
HOLYOKE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - The City of Holyoke is not forgetting its fallen officers during the holiday season.
It held an honorary wreath-laying ceremony Monday morning to pay tribute to officers James Gatzounas, David Zolendziewski, John Driscoll, James Reynolds, and John DiNapoli who died in the line of duty.
The ceremony began with a march from police headquarters to the John DiNapoli Memorial at Holyoke Heritage State Park. The ceremony also coincides with DiNapoli’s end of watch when he was shot and killed inside his cruiser 26 years ago Monday.
Holyoke officials said they’ll never forget the officers’ service, courage, and sacrifice.
