GREENFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – An Indian Orchard has been sentenced to prison after a jury found him guilty of what prosecutors said was a prolonged pattern of physical and sexual violence against a former intimate partner.

Melissa Sippel, spokesperson for the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, said Branden Eugenio will serve 16 to 18 years in state prison, followed by five years of supervised probation, after being convicted in March on 20 charges including aggravated rape, Assault and battery on a family or household member, strangulation, stalking, and witness intimidation.

“The defendant engaged in a pattern of abuse that was severe, life threatening, and abhorrent,” said Northwestern Assistant District Attorney Jillian Parent in a statement. “Intimate partner violence is often a precursor to lethal violence and our office remains committed to prosecuting these cases aggressively to stop the cycle of abuse before it’s too late.”

In addition to his prison sentence, Eugenio’s guilty conviction will require that he register as a sex offender. His probation conditions will include registration requirements of the Sex Offender Registry Board, completing sex offender evaluations and any recommended treatment, having no contact with the victim, and GPS monitoring.
