Interim chief sworn-in to lead Chicopee Police
CHICOPEE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - There was big move for the Chicopee Police Department as Deputy Chief Eric Watson was sworn-in as interim police chief on Wednesday after former police chief Patrick Major’s retirement on January 5.
A ceremony was held at Chicopee City Hall to celebrate the move, which is temporary until the city appoints a permanent police chief. “I’m honored and humbled by the kind words today, but public safety isn’t about one role or one position. It’s about working together,” Watson explained.
Interim Chief Watson also said that he is inspired by the leaders before him and plans to serve with the same dignity he was taught.
