Investigation underway after three-alarm house fire in Ware

WARE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – An investigation is underway after a three-alarm fire damaged a Ware home over the weekend.
Ware fire officials said the town’s ambulance crew reported a fire at 14 Pleasant Street around 2:20 a.m. Sunday while responding to a medical call. First crews on the scene confirmed a working fire at the single-family, three-story vacant home and a third alarm was struck to bring in additional manpower and equipment because of the weather conditions.
Once mutual aide crews responded, a second attack upon the fire was made in the interior. However, it was unsuccessful because the second-floor ceiling collapsed, which prompted all crews to evacuate the building and a mayday call to be activated. All firefighters were accounted for while they continued a defensive attack and battled the fire from the outside.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
