Local family needs help identifying jewelry kiosk thief

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) -- Anila and her husband own Memorable Jewelry; a small kiosk at the Holyoke Mall. On Sunday afternoon, a thief ran off with thirty thousand dollars of his family’s jewelry. Now, they’re asking for your help.
In a surveillance video obtained by Western Mass News, you can see the moment the jewelry was stolen. Anila tells us her father was working that day, and he chased after the thief, but couldn’t catch him.
Anila says her father hasn’t been the same since. The guilt is overwhelming, even though it wasn’t his fault.
“He’s been very, very stressed. And, you know, he’s like, every time I close my eyes, I feel like I’m all over. He ran after him. And right away, he called me when I went. I’m in that condition. When I saw him, I felt like he was kind of hard. Like, the way he was, you know, couldn’t breathe and kept saying, you know, I did this. I did this. I’m like Dad, it’s okay. You know, it happens. It’s not your fault,” she told us over a phone call on Tuesday.
For a small business just three years old, the impact is devastating.
“I mean, if you think about it, with the small business, our net sales, we... we have not… like, it’s just a start of three years. We’re still putting into our business...So, we haven’t been able to pull a lot out...We have... we don’t have any employees yet because we just can’t afford it yet...So, every little thing is... it’s gonna... like, we are set back. I mean, if I were to explain the words, all of our Christmas profits have gone. Everything, like, the whole year...We count everything towards Christmas. And with this, we are back to zero. This is how much it’s impacting us,” Anila continued.
Despite this setback, she’s determined to rebuild.
Holyoke police tell us a police report was filed and they are investigating. If you recognize this man, call the Holyoke Police Department.
For this small business family, your tip could make all the difference.
