Local Olympic gold medalist attends Westfield Starfires game

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) -- Kacey Bellamy, a Westfield native and an Olympic gold medalist in hockey, was back in her hometown yesterday.
She traded the ice for the pitch; attending a Starfires game at Billy Bullens Field, and throwing out the first pitch!
Western Mass News got the chance to speak with Bellamy, hearing how she feels about being back in her hometown; “It’s been amazing being back. I think the biggest thing is I played hockey for so long. All the support in this hometown has been incredible. Now that I’m retired, I still feel that same love that I had back in my first Olympics. Second, the support has never changed so that’s what makes this town so special.”
Bellamy also played for the Calgary section of the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association.
