LONGMEADOW, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- Three sisters from Longmeadow competed for a quarter of a million dollar prize in season two of “Extracted,” a reality survival competition show on FOX.

The Kratovil sisters grew up in Longmeadow and headed to Canada in September to film the show. “I think the only emotion I feel right now is excitement. I mean, this is just one of the coolest things that’s ever happened in our lives,” said Katie Kratovil, who served as the survivalist.

Emily and Carly Kratovil were stationed at headquarters, where they could see and hear Katie. Katie, miles away, could never see or hear them. “And I would say the hardest part was just watching Katie by herself, knowing that we’re so close, but so far from her,” Carly Kratovil added.

Katie said being by herself the whole time was hard, but the best part was that every day was different. “I never knew what was coming at any given day. One day, I could have nothing. The next day, I could have a trial. I just woke up and I never knew what the day was going to bring,” Katie Kratovil explained.

The sisters paused their lives for the show, but they all agreed it was worth it. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and the fact that we got to do it together was incredible,” Emily Kratovil said.

They hope they can inspire other Longmeadow residents to try new experiences. “I also think it hopefully encourages other people to kind of put themselves out there and just go ahead and apply for things, like, you literally never know what’s going to happen if you just put yourself out there,” Katie Kratovil said.

The sisters couldn’t disclose too much information, but they encourage viewers to tune in for episode 2 on Monday at 8 p.m. on FOX 6.
