LUDLOW, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – A local coach has scored a big goal and will reportedly use the proceeds to help others.

Mass. Lottery officials said Monday that Gregory Kolodziey of Ludlow, who also serves as boys varsity soccer head coach at Ludlow High School, won the fifth and final $1 million grand prize in their “$1,000,000 Ultimate 7” scratch ticket game.

Kolodziey chose the cash option for his prize and received a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes. The Lottery noted that he plans to use some of the winnings “to help youth sports programs in his hometown of Ludlow.”

The store from which Kolodziey purchased the ticket, Liquor Mart in Chicopee, will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
