SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Our Toys for Tots campaign came to a close on Friday after receiving hundreds of donations for local children in need and now, those toy are now on their way to those kids and it’s all thanks to your efforts.

Donations ranged from stuffed animals to dolls, basketballs to bicycles and while we didn’t have any elves or a sleigh to load these toys into, we did get some helping hands from the Marines, who provided us with an update on how the campaign went and how it fulfills a different kind of mission for the Marines. “To my knowledge, the reaction has been very uplifting and I’ve been seeing a bunch of members within the community just gathered together to support a great cause,” said one Marine. “It’s another way for us to reach the community and... I don’t want to say have people join the Marines, but just show them that we’re not just about fighting. We’re also about community and uplifting others around us.”

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our Springfield studios and MGM Springfield to donate. By channeling your “inner-Santa” you helped make sure hundreds of local children have a present to open this holiday season.
