Mass. Department of Environmental Protection penalizes facility for hazardous waste violations

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) -- The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has penalized a Springfield facility after finding it violated air pollution and hazardous waste regulations.
They found that Associated Electro-Mechanics, located at 185 Rowland Street, was undergoing a metal cleaning operation that could emit air pollutants without a permit. They also found the facility improperly managed hazardous waste and waste oil.
The company was fined $15,000, and agreed to pay $7,500 of it, while ensuring all violations are corrected.
