Mass. gang unit operation nets 74 suspects, 19 guns, drugs, $59K in cash

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – Joint efforts from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies led to locating dozens of suspects, as well as gun and drug seizures.
Mass. State Police said their gang unit collaborated with other agencies across the state in June “in an effort to reduce violent crime involving gang activity, firearm trafficking and narcotics distribution.” Troopers assigned to that unit helped with apprehending or summoning 74 suspects, who were charged or wanted in connection with offenses including:
They also aided in the recovery of 19 guns and over 1,700 grams of suspected narcotics, including 1,070 grams of suspected fentanyl or heroin, 525 grams of cocaine or crack, and nearly 120 grams of methamphetamine.
Over $59,000 in cash was also seized during the month, “which is believed to be the proceeds of illicit activity,” State Police added.
