Medical helicopter called in for crash along Route 9 in Amherst

AMHERST, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – Emergency crews are on the scene of a two-vehicle crash in Amherst.
Amherst Fire Chief Lindsay Stromgren said that a tractor-trailer and car collided near Belchertown Road and Harkness Road, near the Amherst-Pelham town line, around 2:10 p.m. Wednesday. The vehicles, he added, came to a rest in a nearby wooded area.
One person has been taken to an area hospital, while another person is reportedly trapped in the car and a medical helicopters is on the way to take that person to the hospital.
Drivers may see delays through the area while emergency crews remail on-scene.
