SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- Known best for their hit single “I Can Only Imagine,” longtime band MercyMe is bringing an unforgettable night of music to the MassMutual Center on Thursday.

The contemporary Christian band has been making music for upwards of three decades. Their goal of delivering encouragement and hope through music has remained the same. “It’s one of those things, I think you kind of dream about, ‘What do I want to do with my life?’ and it comes up, but for us, it was one of those things where we really felt like there was an individual calling on our lives,” said band member Nathan Cochran.

The faith-based band has made it clear that they write based off their own life experiences. It’s hard not to be grateful when those messages touch a wider audience. “We’ve seen people come to our shows that may not know anything else about us other than the song ‘Imagine’ and that it’s gotten them through a tough time and, man, that’s an amazing thing to be a part of,” Cochran explained.

While they may not be the youngest guys on the block anymore, MercyMe is still transcending generations, spreading that hope and bringing their long-awaited “Wonder + Awe” tour to Springfield. All those memories they’ve shared with the audience over the years provides inspiration to keep their careers stronger than ever. “We’ll keep going until somebody, the audience tells us to stop, I guess,” Cochran added. “We hope that what we’re doing actually means something to somebody.”

The show will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday. You can CLICK HERE for more information and for tickets.
