Michigan runner fulfills dream of running Boston Marathon with her mom

BOSTON, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) -Tens of thousands of runners took over the streets of Boston today for the 130th running of the Boston Marathon.
Reagan Justice of Michigan crossed the finish line for the first time at the Boston Marathon. Justice said her mom inspired her to run.
“My mom, she’s ran over 100 marathons and this is her 10th marathon and I just graduated from college running and it’s the first year I could do it (with) my mom and I have been been dreaming of doing it together,” Justice said.
Justice was in the first batch of runners coming through Copley Square. She finished in about two hours 45 minutes with a three-minute personal record.
After the race, Justice said she was waiting to see her mom.
“Oh my gosh yeah I can’t wait to see her we’ve been dreaming of doing a marathon together let alone the Boston marathon and it’s so cool it’s awesome,” Justice said.
Justice said she never experienced anything quite like running the Boston Marathon. She said miles one through 14 went by like a flash with supportive spectators. She said the last two miles she was crawling but it was worth it to cross the finish.
Justice said being one of the few female athletes in the first batch of runners to finish made the experience more empowering.
“It’s such an empowering feeling seeing everyone passing a woman. It’s like girl power. We got this, and (the minute) everyone on the sidelines see(s) a woman hyping us up woman supporting woman, it’s awesome. I think me and my mom were the only ones on the bus but to step out of line and have everyone supporting us was just awesome,” Justice said.
