Officials: Westover controlled burn may have contributed to Ludlow fire
LUDLOW, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Officials with the state fire marshal’s office said the controlled burn at Westover Air Reserve Base on Tuesday may have contributed to a fire at a Ludlow industrial building.
Investigators suspect embers from a controlled burn at Westover, which was done by trained professionals, may have been carried by the wind and contributed to the fire at the Wyoming Street site in Ludlow.
We also know much of the fire burned plastic piping products that were stored outside the facility. No other property was damaged.
Mass. State Police and the state’s Department of Fire Services are still investigating the incident.
