SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – A Springfield man is facing several charges after a reported shooting over the weekend.

Springfield Police spokesperson Ryan Walsh said officers were called to the 0-100 block of Fort Pleasant Avenue around 3 p.m. Saturday for a ShotSpotter activation. They arrived and received information that an adult male shooting victim arrived at Baystate Medical Center with serious, but believed to be non-life-threatening, injuries.

Investigators got video from the department’s Real-Time Analysis Center and they were able to identify 29-year-old Giovanni Cavallini of Springfield as the alleged suspect. Police located him around 6:30 p.m. on Carver Street and arrested him on charges including assault and battery with a firearm, malicious damage to a motor vehicle, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, abuse prevention order violation, and failure to surrender a LTC.
