(WGGB/WSHM) - Advocates in the Quabbin region secured a win as the State Senate passed new legislation this week.

Back in January, we reported on towns surrounding the Quabbin Reservoir renewing their push for infrastructure funding. With the Mass Ready Act signed into law, the Quabbin region is promised a number of state resources.

Eleven watershed towns, which are part of Hampshire, Franklin, and Worcester counties, will be receiving $100,000 in the next two fiscal years, paid out by the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA). The MWRA must also add a member to its board who will represent the Quabbin towns.

In addition, the Quabbin Host Community Trust Fund is being established to support services, public safety, and development for the watershed communities.
