Route 5 closed as suspect in deadly shooting barricaded at Holyoke motel
HOLYOKE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - An ongoing police investigation has closed Route 5 between Holyoke and Easthampton.
Hartford Police Lt. Aaron Boisvert said that a suspect wanted in connection with a deadly double shooting in Hartford is currently barricaded at a motel in the area of 579 Northampton Street in Holyoke.
Holyoke Police said they are assisting Mass. State Police with an “ongoing police investigation,” which has led to the closure of Route 5 between Mountain Park Road in Holyoke and East Street in Easthampton.
Payton North, spokesperson for the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, told Western Mass News that their office is involved in the investigation, but declined to elaborate further.
We have also reached out to Mass. State Police for more information, but have not yet heard back.
