Seafood heist results in almost four thousand dollars in live lobsters stolen
TAUNTON, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) -- Almost $400K of live lobsters were stolen from a shipping facility in Taunton, marking it the second seafood theft within the past month.
The CEO of a logistics industry trade group says the thief pretended to be working for a real trucking company.
The CEO of the “Transportation Intermediaries Association” says the scheme is actually quite simple. The fraudster just added a dash to the email used by the real company.
The CEO adds that the recent seafood thefts are probably linked to an organized cargo crime ring, as it’s happening all over the country.
