Seven arrested in multi-agency drug operation in Holyoke

HOLYOKE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – Seven people were arrested after a multi-agency drug operation in Holyoke.
Holyoke Police said members of their department, along with the State Police gang unit, conducted an operation in the area of Soucy Park, Spring Street, Clemente Street, and Main Street Thursday evening.
Around 5:45 p.m., two suspected drug dealers - 40-year-old Matthew Peterson of Ware and 30-year-old Jessica Holmes of Brookfield - allegedly got onto scooters and fled the area when they saw police. Police conducted a traffic stop along Hamilton Street where Holmes was detained, but Peterson kept riding. However, he was taken into custody near 720 Main Street a short time later.
Investigators reportedly recovered approximately 50 bags of suspected heroin or fentanyl, suspected crack-cocaine, and suspected powder cocaine from Holmes. In total, investigators seized over two grams of suspected heroin or fentanyl and over six grams of suspected cocaine or crack cocaine.
Peterson and Holmes were both arrested on several drug-related charges. Peterson is also facing a charge of resisting arrest.
Five other people, whose identities have not been released, were arrested on drug possession charges.
