Springfield Central football star commits to Notre Dame

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) -- An exciting announcement out of Springfield Central High School Monday afternoon, as a four-star football recruit decided where he was going to play in college. Star junior running back Isaiah Rogers officially announced that he was going to continue his career at the University of Notre Dame next season.

Isaiah, one of the top ranked high school players in Massachusetts, was surrounded by family, friends, and teammates in the Springfield Central Library. He choose Notre Dame over other top football programs like Georgia, Penn State, and Indiana.

Rogers was the highest recruited athlete in Central’s history, and said the best part was seeing the support from his community, who lined up for pictures after, “Overall, it was a great moment It was what I pictured as a kid. So, to see that dream come true, it was really special to me.”

This past season, rogers led the Golden Eagles with over 1000 rushing yards and a combined 18 touchdowns.

He had just recently moved up his commitment date and said that coaching and culture of the school was the main reason he wants to join the Fighting Irish.
