Springfield man charged after stabbing at Fourth of July party

WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - A man was arrested after stabbing another man in the neck and face at a Wallingford house party on July 4th.
Officers were called to the a residence located on Stoney Brook Road at around 7:37 p.m. after a a report of a stabbing, according to the police department.
When crews arrived, they found a large gathering on the front lawn and witnesses identified the suspect to police as 28-year-old Michael Spriggs of Springfield, Massachusetts.
Spriggs was being restrained on the ground by several individuals at the scene and was taken into custody without incident.
Following an investigation, it was revealed that both Spriggs and the victim were attending a party at the residence.
Witnesses said when the victim arrived, Spriggs immediately approached him and began stabbing him in the neck and face with a knife.
Responding officers saw multiple puncture wounds to the victim’s neck and facial area, police said.
Officials said the victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and was later released.
Spriggs was arrested and is facing the following charges:
He is being held on a $100,000 surety bond.
Spriggs is expected to appear at Meriden court on July 21st.
