SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) -- Four dirt bikes are now in police custody, as Springfield officials continue cracking down on illegal off-highway vehicles.

On Saturday, Springfield police were working on an off-highway vehicle, or ohv, enforcement detail in the city. The department says it’s in an effort to deter illegal riding, as ohv’s are not allowed on any city street, and have led to serious injuries and deaths.

In total, police handed out four criminal complaints and five traffic citations. A rider of a street legal dirt bike was ticketed for failure to stop or yield.
