Springfield Police investigating reported stabbing, disturbance

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Springfield Police are investigating after a man arrived at an area hospital with stab wounds Wednesday afternoon.
Springfield Police spokesperson Ryan Walsh said police received a disturbance call from the 0-200 block of West Street just after 3:30 p.m. Officers then learned a fight allegedly happened on the 100-block of Lowell Street, but they didn’t find a scene.
A short time later, a stabbing victim arrived at Mercy Medical Center, but police said the extent of the victim’s injuries is unclear.
Officers also tried stopping a vehicle on Plainfield street for being suspected as being involved in the assault, but the driver hit a cruiser and damaged it before driving away.
The case remains under investigation.
