Springfield police seize dirt bike, issue citations for illegal street riding

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- With the weather warming up, police in Springfield want to remind people not to ride your dirt bikes and other off-highway vehicles on city streets.
On Saturday, officers seized a dirt bike while also issuing two criminal complaints and one citation. Police said they saw a dirt bike rider not wearing a helmet near Hancock Street. The operator then rode on the sidewalk to avoid traffic.
A short while later, officers saw the same dirt bike with a different rider also driving recklessly on Locust Street.
Both riders, ages 16 and 17, received criminal complaints and had their bike seized. Police added that they also cited a motorcyclist for riding while not wearing a helmet.
