SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- Springfield residents could soon see targeted tax relief if a bill gets signed by Governor Maura Healey.

Mayor Domenic Sarno announced Thursday that the special targeted tax relief home rule legislation has passed both the Massachusetts House and Senate.

The law would allow the city to supplement the targeted tax relief fund with a one-time payment of $1 million from the city’s certified free cash account.

The move would provide tax relief for eligible homeowners, including those who might not be eligible for the existing state statutory exemptions.
