HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - The stepfather of a 12-year-old girl who was found dead in her home in Enfield is expected to appear in Hartford Superior Court Tuesday.

Anthony Federline faces charges of sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. He has not been charged in connection with the death of his stepdaughter, Eve Rogers.

Enfield police said Eve’s body was found in her Enfield home back in March. They said she had been sexually assaulted.

Federline was arrested in April.

According to a warrant, investigators found that Eve had more than five times the lethal dose of Benadryl for a child in her system at the time of her death. She had also taken Prozac, which had not been prescribed to her.

Her official cause of death was still pending as of Tuesday morning.

Federline pleaded not guilty to his sexual assault and risk of injury charges during a previous court appearance.

He is scheduled to face a judge again on Tuesday in connection with those charges.

At 10 a.m., a community vigil was scheduled outside the courthouse while Federline is inside. Organizers described it as a gathering for justice and community awareness.

The Department of Children and Families said it is conducting a joint investigation with law enforcement into Eve’s death and her sexual abuse.

No further information has been released.
