Teen arrested in VT after double shooting in Holyoke

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection to a double shooting last month that resulted in serious injuries, Holyoke police report.

The double shooting happened on the evening of March 6 at an apartment on Pine Street.

At this time police are not releasing the teenager’s identity due to his age.

On the night of the shooting, we’re told officers responded to an apartment at 214 Pine St.

When they arrived they found two men, both had been shot and one was suffering from serious injuries.

According to Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan the two men were transported to a hospital and officers began their investigation into what happened.

“Detectives in the CIB began investigating and identified a 17-year-old male from Holyoke as a suspect. Detectives applied for and were granted a warrant for his arrest,” the Holyoke Police Department explained adding, “On March 26th, Holyoke Police Detectives were informed that the juvenile suspect was arrested in Pittsford, Vermont during a motor vehicle stop.”

The unidentified teenager at that time, was taken into custody on two outstanding warrants. One related to the double shooting in Holyoke, and another on charges unrelated to the shooting.

Following his arrest in VT, the teenager was taken into custody in Holyoke later that same day.

Holyoke police reporting he is facing numerous charges including:

Arrest Warrant

- Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon – Causing Serious Bodily Injury (Two Counts)

- Assault & Battery with a Firearm (Two Counts)

- Assault to Murder (Two Counts)

- Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building

- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License

- Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card

Arrest Warrant

- Larceny

- Assault & Battery

- Witness Intimidation

Further details about the double-shooting and the second arrest warrant, have not been released.
