SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) -- Basketball history comes full circle Monday night as the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters celebrate their 100th season at the sport’s birthplace.

The performance at 7 p.m. Monday night at the MassMutual Center showcases high-flying dunks, busy handles and entertainment for basketball fans of all ages.

They have been dazzling and entertaining basketball fans for a century now. Through the years, they’ve featured dozens of hall-of-fame basketball players such as Wilt ‘The Stilt’ Chamberlain, Meadowlark Lemon, and Connie Hawkins.

We spoke to Globetrotter Lucius ‘Too Tall’ Winston, who tells us, “I feel like every night we put this uniform on, we’re superheroes to somebody. We’re somebody’s Christmas present, we just want to go out there and put on a good showing. It’s something that we love to do. It’s just an amazing feeling to be a part of it.”

The team started in 1926, becoming cultural icons through their entertaining style of play, otherworldly athleticism, and theatrical elements.

Now as we enter 2026, the show is still going on as they travel across the world entertaining the next wave of global hoop fans.

We also spoke Zanai ‘Biz-Z’ Jones, a Rookie Globetrotter, who shares, “It’s so special to be here in the birthplace of basketball. That’s always going to be special. Basketball has been so special to me for all my life, as of all my teammates. So, it’s incredible to be here.”

With the team being such an important reason as to why the sport is so popular worldwide, they’re going to have something special for Springfield fans.

‘Too Tall’ Winston gives us more information, telling us, “Oh, come on, man. A ton of fan interaction, man, from start to finish. From Magic Pass to the all four quarters. Then our fifth quarter autograph says you’re going to see high-flying dunks, amazing ball handling. You’re going to see Biz-Z get busy on the court, Too Tall. I’m shooting forwards, making trick shots. But we got one of the funniest showmen in the world, Bulldog Mac. We got Torch George, who was one of the females to get a Guinness World Record. First female Globetrotters to get a Guinness World Record. And then we also have one of the shortest Globetrotters in history. Crossover Tompkins, he’s 4′5″. So, it’s going to be an amazing show.”

Monday’s game takes place just a mile down the road, from the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame where the team was inducted in 2002 class in recognition. Expanding the popularity of the sport as global ambassadors with so much history in one location, this has to be on every basketball fan’s bucket list.
