Three arrested with firearms, marijuana following police chase in Holyoke

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Three people from Springfield were arrested following a police chase in Holyoke on Monday afternoon.
Around 12:20 p.m., troopers attempted to stop a speeding vehicle on Route 91 north in Holyoke, however, the vehicle allegedly fled at speeds estimated at 100 mph.
The vehicle reportedly crashed on the Exit 15A offramp before the operator fled on foot, state police said. Firearms and a large amount of marijuana were found in the vehicle and two occupants were taken into custody.
Police from Springfield, Northampton, Easthampton and Holyoke, as well as K9 units and Airwing assisted in finding the fleeing suspect.
Western Mass News first reported seeing a large police presence, including state police in the area of Northampton Street in Holyoke around 2:30 p.m.
He was taken into custody following a brief foot chase around 2:43 p.m. Video of the incident showed a suspect being taken into custody on Woods Avenue.
The driver, 23-year-old Markus Mathieu, was charged with the following:
Passenger Kevon Crittendon, 24, was charged with possession of a large-capacity feeding device and possession to distribute a class D drug.
De’Shye Brewster, 23, another passenger, was charged with failure to report a firearms transaction and possession to distribute a class D drug.
