Tractor trailer crash shuts down highway ramps in West Springfield

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A tractor trailer carrying garbage, rolled over at the I-90/I-91 and Route 5 connector in West Springfield just before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, spilling trash all over the road.
This happened right at a curve.
According to MA State Police all traffic is being diverted via Rt. 5
Western Mass News spoke with the West Springfield Fire Department who responded to the scene. They tell us the driver of the tractor trailer was able to get out of the truck on their own.
Authorities say the driver was then treated on scene and transported to the hospital by EMS crews.
As of about 12:15 p.m. temporary ramp closures remained in place while crews worked the scene.
This included the I-90 East and Westbound Exit 45 ramps, as well as the Rt. 5 ramp to I-90.
No word yet when those ramps will be reopened, but once they are, Western Mass News will provide that update.
