Traffic concerns arise over new Springfield Crossing Plaza

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) -- The Springfield Crossing Plaza on Boston Road has brought many new developments to the previous Eastfield Mall site, including traffic troubles.
Some stores at the new Springfield Crossing have only been open since November 19th, with plenty more to come, but since the first business opened their doors, we’ve received complaints regarding traffic at that intersection.
On our Facebook, viewers left dozens of comments with their feelings after driving in that area. One comment says that the parking lot is poorly designed and has too many stop signs and that it took over twenty minutes just to get a parking spot. Another comment asking if there is just one entrance and exit into the parking lot because the traffic on Monday was all backed up.
Western Mass News headed to the plaza to hear for ourselves why customers are feeling frustrated about their route. However, the reviews we received were mixed.
Marjorie Robble from Palmer told us she thinks the new layout is better than the former Eastfield Mall layout, saying that it is a ‘welcoming change.’
While Robble didn’t have any problems with her visit, we discovered that the two entrances and exits to the plaza haven’t changed. They are in the same spot as the old mall, and they both feed into Boston Road, causing some delays around the light and at stop signs in the parking lot.
Western Mass News @ 5 is getting answers from more members of the community, and their response to the growing traffic concerns in the area.
