EAST LONGMEADOW, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – A Springfield man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into two East Longmeadow vehicles.

East Longmeadow Police said a 911 call came in around 1:25 a.m. Thursday to report someone trying to break into a vehicle in a Hazelhurst Avenue driveway. The caller was able to provide a description of the suspect before they fled the area.

Officers responded to the area, began a search, and someone matching the suspect’s description was seen on Melvin Avenue. After confirming the description with the witness and what they saw, 26-year-old Ansumana Banguara of Springfield was arrested for breaking and entering into a motor vehicle.

Police added that, later Thursday morning, another resident in the same neighborhood called to report their vehicle had broken into overnight and two guns were stolen. Officers met the victim, watched home surveillance video, and reportedly confirmed that the suspect seen entering the vehicles on camera matched Banguara’s description and appearance. However, no guns were found in his possession when he was arrested.

Believing the guns had been discarded, investigators searched the area and both guns were found in a wooded area near the road.

Bangura has been ultimately charged with two counts of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, two counts of larceny of a firearm, and two counts of carrying a loaded firearm without a license to carry. Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday at Palmer District Court.
