WESTFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- A 51-year-old woman and 30-year-old man were hospitalized with serious injuries after a one-car crash on Western Avenue in Westfield late Wednesday night.

Westfield Police said the crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. when the car went off the road and hit a utility pole.

Both people were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay.

The crash caused power outages in the area. Westfield Gas and Electric was called in, but had to wait until Thursday morning to repair the damage due to overnight storms.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The road has since reopened.
