WARE/NEW SALEM, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – Two men are dead after two separate crashes.

Melissa Sippel, spokesperson for the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, said emergency crews were called to the area of 110 Bondsville Road in Ware around 9 p.m. Thursday for a one-car crash.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a car was traveling southbound when it crossed the roadway to the left, went off the road, and hit a tree. The driver and only person in the car, a 31-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sippel added then around 5 a.m. Friday, crews responded to a reported one-vehicle crash in the area of 100 Blackinton Road in New Salem.

A preliminary investigation into that crash indicates that a truck was traveling southbound when it crossed into the northbound lane, went off the road, and hit a utility pole. The driver and only person in the truck, a 26-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The medical examiner’s office will determine the manners and causes of death for both victims and both crashes remain under investigation.
