Volunteers pack books to help Western Mass. kids become strong readers
HAMPDEN, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Members of the Western Mass News team took time Wednesday morning to volunteer at Link to Libraries in Hampden.
Sloane Wick and First Alert Meteorologist Liam Murphy jumped i to box up dozens and dozens of books that are headed straight to local kids.
For some students, it could be the first book they’ve ever owned. Link to Libraries President and CEO Laurie Flynn told us access to books is essential. “A book can change a life. It’s as simple as that. We know that, in order for kids to be successful in school and in life, we have to know how to read and, in order for kids to become strong readers, they need access to books,” she explained.
